Posted by admin | 2010 wedding dresses trends | Wednesday 30 December 2009 22:54

2010 wedding trends are centered on bold and bright hues and few pastel color schemes. From vibrant red wedding gowns to bold turquoise accents, here are some of the top color trends for the 2010 wedding; there is a large range of possibilities for wedding dresses.

Select the dress. For dresses, black is still a leading trend for the fashion-forward bride that wants to make a bold statement for the Big Day. This color scheme was popular on the Paris fashion runways in 2008 and has remained in the forefront of wedding dress trends in subsequent years. Black dresses embellished with lace and pearls are an attractive choice for the fashionable bride, but you can also consider black piping or embroidery over the classic white wedding dress for variation.

Check the gowns. Red wedding dresses are also a top trend for 2010 weddings, especially for the Spring and Fall months. Look for bright red gowns embellished with large satin sashes and bows, or red gowns with black piping and detailing for a fresh new look.

Choose bridesmaid dresses. These get a pop of color for 2010 weddings in pink, bright orange or turquoise shades. The bride looking for a fun and playful addition to the wedding can wear a simple cream colored gown with a colorful sash that matches the bridesmaid dresses. Look for dresses embellished with large petals and oversized bows for a stylish look.

Consider bright yellow and peach tones; these are also some of the top color trends for the 2010 wedding season, especially for weddings taking place in the spring and summer. Avoid pastels and go for the bold and bright color palettes in these color families for a fashionable look. These color work particularly well for outdoor weddings, beach weddings and tropical-themed weddings.

Do you know Vera Wang?

Posted by admin | 2010 wedding dresses | Tuesday 22 December 2009 04:20

Vera Wang opened a luxury salon in 1990, showcasing her new wedding dresses collection. But the elegance, detailing, and freshness of her line quickly won her kudos from the world at large, and a wedding dress superstar was born. In 1994, a simple white skating prom dress with illusion sleeves worn by Nancy Kerrigan made her a household name. (A life-long athlete who has competed in international skating competitions, Vera Wang continues to design costumes for Olympic skaters such as Michelle Kwan.)

In fact, after sixteen years at Vogue as Senior Fashion Director, followed by a gig at Ralph Lauren as a design director, Vera Wang was frustrated to find no fashion in the bridal industry. All she could find were traditional wedding dresses that lacked sophistication. So she did what any reasonable woman with a rolodex full of high-powered fashion insiders would do; she designed her own bridal line.

Vera Wang was raised by Chinese-American affluent parents in New York, attending the prestigious prep-school Chapin, followed by Sarah Lawrence College and the Sorbonne. Her mother was the prime influence on her design style, and regularly took her to Paris to see the fashion shows.

Today, Vera Wang is perhaps the best known wedding dress designer in the business. She has expanded her brand to include fragrance, jewelry, eyewear, shoes, and a home collection with Wedgewood, all touched by her luxurious and sophisticated style. She continues to live in New York City with her husband, Arthur Becker, and their two daughters.

In the tradition of Paris couture, she uses rich fabrics, luxurious details such as hand beading, and the best craftsmanship. Vera Wang Wedding Dresses skirt the fine line of applying modern touches to traditional styles, avoiding both harsh modern looks and syrupy old-fashioned sweetness. As her design empire has grown, the range has also grown. Today, a bride can find everything from sweet bows to unusual tulle-backed dresses, and even dresses with wide gold lamé bands along the bottom. She tells brides that they can be sensual, and in fact, this may be where she’s had the most influence on the wedding industry. Whether traditional ball-gowns or dramatic mermaid-train dresses, her wedding dresses celebrate the body.

Most notably, Jennifer Lopez wore Vera Wang’s off-the shoulder ruffled lace wedding dress for her surprise marriage to Marc Anthony in June 2004. But she is far from the only bride to wear Vera Wang. From Jessica Simpson’s meringue wedding dress to Sharon Stone’s pale-pink chiffon wedding dress, this designer is continuously the choice of celebrities. Other celebrities wearing Vera Wang on their wedding day include Uma Thurman, Mariah Carey, Holly Hunter, and Karenna Gore.

Winter Wedding Cocktail Party

To set the tone for the evening, show off your personal style at your cocktail dress in wedding party.

Spruce up your cocktail hour with flavors of the season like peppermint, butterscotch, and cranberry.

Try a peppermint-infused martini garnished with mini candy canes for a decidedly December wedding. Or try a cranberry cosmopolitan garnished with tiny dried cranberries. For a drink that’s sophisticated yet unique, serve pear champagne cocktails garnished with frozen pear wedges or mint sprigs.

Are you having your wedding in a really cold climate? Warm everyone up with cups of hot chocolate and hot buttered apple cider (check out the recipe below). If you think your guests might not be up for a warm, rich drink before dinner, serve the drink after the cake-cutting.

Everyone loves chocolate, and for that reason, it’s a wedding favor staple.

Chocolates in the shape of snowflakes make decidedly elegant (and wintery) favors, perfect for a ball room wedding. Display them in individual boxes at each place setting or on trays near the dessert table.

Packets of hot chocolate mix are perfect for welcome baskets and reception favors alike.

Buy them prepackaged decorated with snowflakes or personalized with cute sayings, like “The Perfect Blend,” and don’t forget the marshmallows.

Being unique will carve out a lasting spot in the minds of your guests.

Step out of the ordinary with personal vows and toasts. Share your relationship — name your assigned tables for places that you and your fiancé saw and loved, or your favorite foods, songs or movies. Work photos into your centerpieces, cake table or gift table.

Celebrate the both of you by incorporating ethnic and family traditions.

For example: if you have a close relationship with your extended family, and your guest list is small, opt for the American or family-style dinners — where the dishes are set in the middle of the table and guests serve themselves.

If your culture calls for a special wedding dress, wear your white wedding dress to your ceremony and the ethnic dress to your reception. Include your guests in special rituals like jumping the broom, or the Hindu Sindoor ritual. Plus, guests love to see photo slideshows! They’re simple to do, and give your guests and chance to know you better.

French Wedding Decoration: Dwell on Décor

Posted by admin | 2010 wedding plan | Monday 14 December 2009 00:07

There are a lot of wedding decorations, which is your favorite?

Even if your venue isn’t the Hilton, you can still make it look like a million bucks. Wishing you could coax a visit from Christopher Lowell or Martha Stewart? You can — grab an enticing interior decorating book at your local bookstore or library. Pay attention to lines, textures and silhouettes. How do they make you feel?

Is this the mood you want at your wedding?

Weave things like flowers, candles, sashes or seashells into your décor. You’ll save money, and also give your theme some authenticity. Find out from your venue what type of restrictions they have (such as no open flames, or no outside vendors). If you’ve got some play money, invest in props to go with your theme — or lighting and staging company to bring the scene alive.

If you have already to choose a beautiful wedding dress and match bridesmaid dresses, please dream of a French wedding decoration.

What should I bring to bridal show?

Bring address labels.one shoulder wedding dresses

I recommend printing out labels on your home computer with your name, address, phone number, email address and wedding date. I also recommend opening a free email account that is designated strictly for all the wedding info you will receive and then cancel them email account after you have booked all of your vendors! You can also rent a P.O. Box to handle all the wedding brochures and mailings you will receive, and then cancel the PO Box when you no longer want the mailings.

However, just remember, these vendorssawd0003 will use the information you provide for them — if you don’t want sales pitch phone calls or mailings, simply do not give out your phone number or address! You may miss a great deal though!

Bring the following items: pen, notebook, date book, checkbook, credit card and a large tote bag to carry everything in.

Many wedding dresses vendors offer special pricing if you book with them and leave a deposit with them the day of the show. Still not sure if this vendor is truly the one you want? Ask if they would be willing to extend the special price to you for any length of time after the show.

Most vendors won’t have a problem working with you. If they say no, it makes you wonder why you need to do it RIGHT THERE AND THEN! Say thank you, and pass on by. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be.

Why You Need to Attend a Bridal Show?

Posted by admin | bridal show | Thursday 10 December 2009 22:38

If you’re getting married, a Bridal Show is a great place to get started.

Since 1996, I’ve attended or participated in over 150 Bridal Shows, and I thought I would pass on some tips to you, to make your trip a little easier.

empire waist wedding dress

You can find local Bridal Shows being held anywhere from malls to hotels, convention centers and wedding facilities. You can expect to see anywhere from 10 to over 100 wedding dresses vendors, and every single one of them is competing for your business. What to do? How to start? What to bring?

If possible, find out which vendors will be participating in the show before you attend. This will help you map out your plan of attack. Knowing who will be there in advance, as well as maybe having a layout of the show itself, you can seek out the vendors you really want to talk to, and those that aren’t so important to you.

Wear comfortable shoes and leave your coat in the car. Many shows do not offer coat check and it can become quite a burden to lug your coat, your purse, your brochures, and everything else around! This is why you need to see next item!
